Education: A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Experience in a startup, engineering, or R&D environment is an asset.

Role
The successful candidate will support AGORA’s financial operations by maintaining accurate bookkeeping records, supporting compliance requirements, and enabling effective financial oversight in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or have a valid work permit.
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Close attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting audits, grants, or financial reporting is an asset.
- Well-organized, dependable, and able to manage priorities independently.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements in a timely manner.
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
- Support payroll coordination and documentation, as required.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Maintain organized financial records to support audits, grant reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external accountants as needed.
- Support grant claim submission, budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting activities.
- Meet AGORA’s quality standards while complying with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
- The candidate must be a self-starting, self-motivated and well-organized person.
